Spirited Cousins Cherish Simple Pleasures

This week Let's Scrap features a new weekly sketch designed by Julie Bonner. I fell in love with the sketch yet took me a while selecting photos. I have tons of different angle of those cartwheel acts by the children that I just couldn't decide. Eventually I picked the best ones and did photo collage...ta-da: eight shots in five photo placings, perfect! Below is the layout after I decided to revamp today. I think it looks better than the first one I did a few days ago...{photo underneath}...

This double pages were designed when my mind didn't stay focus...lol.

...the sketch...

...close-ups...
I dab the felt alphas with Versa Fine ink pad.
The group consist of my four children, nephew and nieces.
This is what the cousins do when they gather at Gram's home...so carefree...so full of ideas!

The flower embellishment is created by my fabulous friend Desire. It is so pretty I have attempted making some specially for this layout. Thank you for sharing Desire.
Here's a version of my
Flower Tutorial:

I hope you have enjoyed my post today and find the tutorial helpful.
Would love to see your creations at Let's Scrap gallery...come and visit!
Until then, see you next time. Thank you for dropping by.

Dear God.....Thank You for all that I have

This week Let's Scrap features a new sketch designed by our talented Debby de Wilde. What I love about the sketch is the chevrons! I flipped the sketch 360 degrees just for the fun of it and started designing my example card. On second thoughts, I think I will frame it up and display in my living room...

The sketch:

Materials used: acid free drawing block, Kaisercraft ink pad, Heidi Grace stamp, Tattered Angel Glimmer Mist, Ginger's House sentiment

For the first time I have never felt so relief after I finished a card but this one almost brings me teary eyes. Why? Because from nothing much I can still able to create something unique, something special and something of its kind. I don't have all the fancy and newest crafty tools to work with (I don't even own a die-cut machine...okay either Spellbinders or Sizzix is on my wish list...and still wishing...wish me luck!!)...nevertheless I'm thankful God bless me with a talent I developed and upgraded simply by loving it and never give up for crafting is a never dull moment! The sentiment is my very favorite and will always be.

I would also like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Make It Monday ~ Challenge 108 Anything Goes
Totally Gorjuss ~ Thank You

I'm so glad you visit me today...thank you...truly appreciated.
Hugs and smiles,

Our Lives are like Storybooks...and Doily Flowers Tutorial

One of the tasks as a Design Team Member for Let's Scrap is to make at least one tutorial which appears every fortnight. Once again it's my turn this week to create something I have never done before that is flowers from doilies. I like to create things with materials that can be found easily around the house or from waste not want not useful items. I was on my way to the kitchen when I saw some doilies sitting in the paper tray and the creative button in my brain suddenly function! That's it; I was going to make flowers and quickly grab the doilies and work on it.

Here's my example layout to showcase the doily flower:

This layout used the left side of this sketch:

Materials used: So Sophie cardstock, Tim Holtz distress ink, Kaisercraft stamps and ink, Memory ink pad, Ginger's House digi sentiment, Tattered Angel glimmer mist, MS punch, Petaloo flower charm, acid free drawing block, doilies and others from my stash

...some close-ups...
I find the quote interesting and used it for the title

My only son Muhammad 'Arif and second daughter Nur Anis Farhana

Let's Scrap Administrator Debby told me it looks like store bought. What do you think?

Next is my example 3D card where I've adhered the doily flower:

This card is made based on this sketch:

Materials used: Copic, Tim Holtz distress ink, Ginger's House digi quote, Pattern Pack Spring Morning papers, others from my stash

3D card flatten and ready for mailing

Doily Flowers Tutorial

Step 4 and 5: Trim about 1cm along all the folded edges to ruffle them up later.

Step 11 is optional. Either you mist with glimmer mist or you can distress it with distress ink or up to your imagination. You can adorn the center with anything you desire. I applied digi image and flower charms from Petaloo in the center.

You won't read any further because I'm stopping here...sorry for the lengthy post =) I hope my layout and card gives you some inspirations and find my tutorial useful. I would love so much to see your doily flowers in your creations {give me your creation link if you do! Thanks}.

As always, it's a delight to have your visit today and thank you for leaving me comment and do visit again for another tutorial coming soon.
...Hugs and smiles...

Have A Great Trip

Ahoy there! I am currently watching The Diamond Jubilee Concert as I type this blog post of mine. Sir Cliff Richard just performed his famous song he wrote in 1968 'Congratulations...and Celebration'; I remember that being my humming tune as a young girl in the early 80's. It's just amazing to watch this concert having the performance stage built in front of Buckingham Palace with the Royalists and commoners watching altogether. I like that and even though I am just watching a recorded program on television, I can feel the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebration and one amongst the cheerful crowds! I'm enjoying Tom Jones right now...wow...his hair is completely white yet charming as ever...his voice...is so powerful...amazing living legend. Awww, he's singing Delaila...this song reminds me of my beloved late father...he was a big fan of Tom Jones; from Dad I learnt his songs. Ahhh, enough blab...

Well, I've been scrapping oflate and today I'm featuring a card I made for CDAC Progressive Challenge. I love the surfboards image although I've never been on one; even can't swim (the first to sink after a shipwreck...duhh) let alone surfboarding against screaming waves, haaa! The image is provided by Tiffany Doodles if you are interested.

Blown Away

Hello there from cold Malaysia! It has been raining continuosly and my laundry is suffering. Staying indoor allows me to scrap most of the time, thus neglecting some housework, teehee. This week Let's Scrap features another lovely sketch design by Valerie Salmon. I have once again potrayed my little girl who loves posing naturally.

The sketch by Valerie Salmon:

Materials used: Pink Paislee cs, Tim Holtz pp & distress ink, MS punch, Kaisercraft stamps, Tattered Angel Mist, Memory ink pad, Momoyo flower papers, alpha stickers, maroon mulberry paper for matting

Misting and Splaterring

I have so many pictures of Afza to pick for this layout and these four are my favorites, hence the black and white. She has finally accepted the beauty of it; otherwise she protest every time I go for
black and white.
Would you like to challenge yourself? Try this sketch and submit your layout to Let's Scrap gallery and you may stand a chance to win the weekly challenge this week.
I leave you here for today. Until next time, have a great weekend!
Hugs!
